The Chevening work experience requirement is one of the first eligibility checks applicants should complete. If you do not have the required level of work experience, Chevening says your application will be rejected.
The rule is simple on paper but easy to miscalculate. You need at least 2,800 eligible hours, and those hours must be acquired after completing your undergraduate degree. Experience before undergraduate completion should not be counted toward this requirement.
The 2,800-hour threshold is not the same as having a strong application. It only clears eligibility. Competitive strength depends on what your work experience proves about leadership, influence, relationship-building, responsibility and future potential.
